物語 The Story
The play is based on story about a conflict between a brilliant scholar and politician,Michizane Sugawara,and his political rival,Tokihira Fujiwara,in the beginning of the 10th century.
Having been jealous of the brilliant Michizane,Tokihira brought a false charge to the Emperor Daigo,against Michizane and had him demoted and sent into exile from Kyoto,the capital,to Dazaifu in Kyushu.Michizane became concerned about the country falling into disorder and subjugated Tokihira with his warrior-guardian.
